What I'm Excited About

I've been fascinated (and yes, a little frustrated) lately with ADHDers and habit-forming so in 2025 I've decided to change the way I work with my clients and really insist on developing one habit at a time - even if it takes months.

I have a client who I've been working with for 2-3 years. In this time, we've done a lot - we've worked in nearly every room in their house, there's been lots of ADHD coaching, we've done virtual, on-site, phone and texting and we've done A LOT of fire-fighting. About 6 months ago, I decided that I was done fire-fighting with them, so no more deadline-based organizing, no more spur-of-the-moment, side-rails, I'm bored so we're going to do something different today - none of that.

What I started doing is similar to when your mom used to say "If you can't take care of the things you already have, I'm not going to buy you more." I decided that each time I worked at their home (about once a week), I was going to organize in the same order, starting with the front porch, moving to the foyer, then into the kitchen, doing mail, and so on. When they came to me with a new priority, I would tell them that yes, I was happy to make that area my next priority but they had to make sure the front porch, foyer, kitchen, mail, etc. were tidy so I could spend my time focusing on the new area. Yes, I was met with some resistance - conversations and compromise were necessary, but I would say it's working.

If you were to start reorganizing your space, what would your path be?

Feel free to message me for some accountability!
